Support. Insight. Growth.
Sorance Counselling provides professional counselling services grounded in ethical practice, evidence-informed approaches, and respect for the dignity and autonomy of each client.
Counselling is a collaborative process that invites reflection, understanding, and change within a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship. Services are offered with cultural humility, clinical integrity, and adherence to the ethical standards of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
I am Dr. Soraya Centeno, PhD, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Approved Clinical Supervisor (RCC-ACS), and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) in good standing with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). My clinical practice is informed by advanced training in trauma-informed care, including formal certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and specialized training in trauma-responsive therapeutic approaches.
My professional background includes over ten years of experience in mental health, trauma recovery, and family systems counselling across clinical, academic, and community-based settings. I have particular experience working with culturally diverse individuals, families, and newcomers.
Counselling is guided by the client's goals, values, and lived experience. My role is to facilitate a respectful, non-judgmental, and professional therapeutic space that supports self-exploration, clarity, and informed decision-making.
Mental health is understood as shaped by biological, psychological, relational, cultural, and social factors. Counselling explores how these dimensions interact and influence wellbeing.
Where appropriate, I integrate principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support self-awareness, emotional regulation, and internal coherence in a compassionate and non-pathologizing manner.
All services are delivered through a trauma-informed lens that prioritizes psychological safety, transparency, and client autonomy. EMDR may be used when clinically appropriate and mutually agreed upon.
